We Are the Walking Dead
Beware of Biters
Just for fun poll.
6th-Jan-2017 11:34 am
This is just for fun, it has nothing to do with any spoilers - either for the comic books or TV show.

It took Rick, Michonne, and finally Lilly to kill the Governor on the show. So if Negan were to die at some point in the (near-ish) future on the TV show, who do you want to see kill him? Who would be the most satisfying one to see get the "honor" of taking down Negan?

Poll #2060813 If Negan dies..

Who would you like to see kill Negan at this point in the story? (TV show)

Someone else/I'll tell you in the comments.

Michonne. She definitely has had it in for Negan since Day One, and seeing the burning mattresses just set her OFF.

The mattresses set me off as well, haha! It was just cruelty for the sake of being cruel at that point. I think they all have very valid reasons to want him gone. I forgot to include Dwight in the poll, but he's got his reasons too.

This probably isn't the most logical choice, but the very first person I thought of was Carl. I just keep thinking about how Negan called Carl psychotic when they first met, how Carl's quiet rage even intimidated him a little bit. I'm behind on episodes and haven't read this far in the books, so I don't know Carl's latest experiences or exact frame of mind at this point in the story, but I think it would be an interesting and unexpected development to see this kid take down this monster.

I see Maggie's in the lead, and I can certainly understand that. I'd want her to be there, too, to witness it at the very least.

I'm really curious where they're going with the Negan/Carl connection. I don't know how many episodes behind you are so I don't want to say too much, but his frame of mind regarding Negan is sometimes hard to read right now.

I don't think Negan is actually going anywhere anytime soon (and I am kind of starting to love to hate him in a twisted way), but I thought it might be fun to speculate who might take him down one day. Whatever happens, I do hope Maggie is there to see it, like you said. Although, almost everyone else has earned that by now too.

The last time I watched, Carl and Jesus were in the back of the truck on the way to Negan's compound. I don't know what happened next.

I really hope Negan is around for a long while, because he's the most effective villain we've had since the Walkers themselves, IMO. Who else has gotten this passionate a reaction from characters and fans alike? And it doesn't hurt that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is rocking this role!

Thanks for posting this. Because I watch the episodes a week behind everyone else, I haven't been able to really get into the discussion posts for fear of spoiling myself, but I could participate in this one.

Ahhh, you really need to catch up then! Some of Negan's best 'love to hate him' moments are coming up.

I agree that JDM is rocking this role. I hated Negan at first. And we were supposed to - his introduction was him killing 2 main characters in a brutal way. But I really enjoy his performances now in a 'omg I can't believe I'm laughing at him but he's just that funny' kind of way. With the Governor, I just wanted him dead, dead, dead. There was nothing remotely entertaining about watching him for me. I wanted him gone long before the show did.

I think that watching TWD takes a little patience, especially now that the cast and the setting has gotten so large. It takes a while for them to get certain things set up, but it usually all comes together in a satisfying way for me. Like the slow build toward this mid-season finale was totally worth it in the end (hint, hint you should watch). But it is very hard to be patient when we have to wait weeks and months for new episodes.

I mostly stay out of the discussion posts because a lot of people here don't seem to like Rick and I do. But I don't think either Rick or Negan are going anywhere anytime soon, so I just thought this might be a little bit of fun to talk about during our hiatus. Glad you enjoyed!

Sorry for the multiple edits. Apparently I can't spell today.

Somehow I can't see Maggie doing it. Maybe finishing him off (like Lilly) but not being the first one.

Maggie's a badass in her own right (I still love the way she put that cowardly town leader in his place), but you're right, she's not the coldblooded killer type.

I actually could see Maggie doing it. She has lost everyone she ever loved over the course of this show and it's made her very strong. She stepped up and killed those people when Carol couldn't in that ep last season when she and Carol were held hostage by some Saviors (forget which ep, it wasn't a great one).

And she punched the heck out of Gregory when he said the Saviors weren't that bad. She's never going to forgive Negan for what he did to Glenn.

I'm hoping Rick, if only for the crazy demented rage he would be in (I always love that, I'm a freak). But Carl also sprung to mind. He'd be cool about it, almost cold.

At first I thought Daryl, but killing people isn't usually Daryl's MO. He has, but it seems to be a real push comes to shove situation.

How about my Queen, Carol? Although in truth, she hasn't "earned it" the way the others have.

Lol, I love me some crazy!Rick too. Especially when he tilts his head and you know he's not quite all there anymore and shit's about to go down, hahaha. Carl... he kinda looks at Negan sometimes like he thinks the way people respect his power is cool? I have to wonder if Negan will guide him down the little future serial killer path, or if Rick will be able to keep him from going that route.

I wouldn't count Daryl out of the running after what he did to Fat Joey. He went full Negan on him. Being tortured left its mark and who knows how much it's changed him.

I'm not sure what the heck they're doing with Carol anymore. I miss badass!Carol. Right now she still doesn't know what happened to Glenn, Abe, or Daryl. If she ever finds out, that might motivate her to get her head back in the game, hopefully.

Maggie doing it would be terribly badass. Especially since she's pregnant. It would feel like redemption.

I agree. She was the one to tell them they needed to get ready to fight when everyone else was broken at the end of 7x01. Whatever happens to Negan, whenever it finally happens, I want her to be there.

I vote Carol! I so, so, so miss badass!Carol. I want her to hear about everything that happened and go rain vengeance upon the whole lot of them.

I would love the return of badass!Carol. I'm dying to see her reactions to everything that's happened. I think Daryl's torture alone would make her want to kill some people.
7th-Jan-2017 05:32 pm (UTC)
Right?! And she'd better damn well do it. They took away badass!Maggie and only just started bringing her back. I hate to see them doing the same to Carol. And of any of them, she'd be the one I'd most believe could single-handedly bring down Negan. I so hope she gets a whack or two at him.
